| Analysis of light elements in solid surface by means of fast neutrons |
@The objective of this study is to establish the technological basis of neutron elastic recoil detection (NERD) analysis using fast neutrons produced with an ion accelerator and to apply this method to the non-destructive measurement of depth distributions of light elements such as hydrogen and helium in material surfaces such as the first wall of nuclear fusion reactor. Main subjects are (1) to obtain appropriate fast neutron sources for the analysis, (2) to establish the detection system for measurements of energy spectra of recoil particles, and (3) to develop the quantitative analytical procedure for determining the depth distributions of light elements in solid surfaces.
